Q: IS HUSQVARNA 50:1 OIL TO MIX a mix ready to
add to the Husquvarna Model 125B? If so, how much does the Oil to Mix Cost? Also does the Higher RPMs = increased heat make it suitable for snow removal as well as leaf blowing?

by Carl Bartee from Maryland on November 09, 2013

A: Carl,

The 125B is shipped with the appropriate oil to mix with any high quality fuel you have.

I would say that you can do any type of clean up your blower will allow you to. The air volume this unit puts out will surprise you in its clean up capabilities.

Q: JUST BOUGHT ONE, BUT AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK W A 50:1 OIL MIX, I USED ABOUT 1/2 TANK OF FUEL.. THE BOOK STATED NOT TO USE A OUTBOARD MOTORBOAT OIL GAS MIX..(WATER COOLED). I HAVE BOUGHT HUSQVARNA 50:1 OIL TO MIX. WHY IS OUTBOARD 50:1 NOT RECOMENDED?
by GREG LAVOIE from Connecticut on October 23, 2013

A: Greg,

My simple answer to this is engine size and speed. Your outboard motor on average runs from anywhere from 5000-7000 RPMs; whereas, the smaller engine in that blower can get up to over 10,000 RPMs.

Higher RPMs = increased heat, so you need a oil that breaks down differently. Outboard motor oil reacts differently in higher RPM engines and will leave behind potentially catastrophic residue behind causing all types of potential problems.

If you are able to use a high quality 2-cycle engine oil, you would find after a long period of use the oil acts as detergent actually cleansing the integral parts of the engine.

Q: My present blower a TroyBilt died. The starter rope is jammed--ther are a thousand screws to take out to attempt to fix it and when I bought it at Lowes--no parts list or manuals. A piece of junk. I usually blow pine need les and small leaves. I was thginking about buying the 125B Hussqvarna. What do you think. Also--how readyily available are replacement parts for that machine.
by Vince Specht from New Jersey on May 22, 2011

A: Thanks for your inquiry. This blower would work perfectly for your application. It is a durable, long-lasting blower. Replacement parts are readlily available at any local Husqvarna repair center.

Q: Todd: I really need your help. I want a powerful handheld leaf blower - the most powerful I can find since I have a large area to do. I would prefer not having to mix oil and gas, but if needed, fine. I would like easy starting. I cannot use the backpack we have. Too hard to start and too heavy for me - I'm kind of on the little side. I'm considering the Husqvarna 28cc - Is this my best choice? I have leaves and needles on the grass and hard surface, but I just want to get the leaves thrown a good distance.

Thanks very much for any advice.

by Sharon Vathy from New York on March 20, 2011

A: Thanks for your inquiry. This blower is one of the better ones we carry. It would more than meet your needs and it is easy starting. I think this Husqvarna 125B would be a great choice for you.

Tired Of Fighting.....
Got so tired of fighting with my old Craftsman blower I could SCREAM! I'd had good luck with my Husqvarna lawn mower & gas powered trimmer, I bought this blower. Lots easier to use & it weighs less than a backpack blower which is great for someone who's had back surgery.
Pros: Reliable, High Quality, I'd Buy It Again, I Swear By Husqvarna Products

Do Not Purchase. You Have Been Warned.
I can guarantee you that the positive reviews of this product have only used the blower for about a month or less. You will love how it works for a while, but then you will have trouble. You will find that the fuel lines degrade causing the unit to fail. You will take it in for warranty work only to find that Husqvarna will not cover you, because it is a fuel problem. They claim that you need to use their ethanol free gas at $25/gallon, or you will have problems. I think this is a... more

Two Major Problems
There is no way to stabilize it when starting, so it follows the pull rope upward. It needs a toehold The handle is poorly designed so it is unbalanced and difficult to carry and maneuver. It needs to be redesigned, but at the very least should come with a shoulder strap.
Pros: Quiet, Price
Cons: Unstable, Unbalanced

Junk
I bought one of these fighting it would be a bullet proof leaf blower. Well it ran for about 3 minutes and seemed like it choked itself out. It had no power and when I let off the throttle it would stall every time. I used the Husqvarna 50:1 premix fuel so I know it's not a fuel problem. Took it back, bought a Stihl and love it. Clearly Husqvarna has taken a back seat in quality!!

Cons: Low Quality

Poor Husqvarna Or Poor Dealer (or Both)
After years of having used echo blowers which started first-time every time, 5-month old husqvarna 125b suddenly would not start. Thinking it to be under full warrnaty, took it to local dealer who charged me nearly $40 for new gas lines, blaming me for using 89 octane gas instead of 91 and ruining gas lines..please note that a 1991 Stihl weedeater and a 2002 Lawnboy mower held same gas for 21 years and 10 years respectively without problem.

Shortly after ransoming blower, it failed to start... more

Numerous Reviews Tell Of Bad Fuel Lines
Bought the 125b based on reports that it was powerful and being a Husqvarna to be of good quality. After less than 1 year of light usage it failed to run. Upon further research I found numerous complaints about the fuel lines deteriorating. Husqvarna refuses to cover these under warranty and blames problem on modern gasoline containing 10% ethanol. My other equipment e.g., ECHO, Craftsman, etc. have no such problems. I hope there will be a Class Action Suit against Husqvarna to help many,... more

Don't Bother
I purchased the Husqvarna 125B with the anticipation of blowing leaves without having to pull an electric cord. I had heard horror stories about how these type gas blowers in that they were not worth taking home even if free. Now I know what they mean. I was careful to follow all the instructions according to the booklet, after about 10 or more cranks it finally started and seemed to run good. After about 5 minutes of running and some blowing of leaves the throttle began to choke down and it... more

Fuel Lines
Do not buy this leaf blower!!! Used a dozen times and the fuel lines broke and Husqvarna blames fuel.
I used the recommend fuel. Dealers won't fix under warranty, Husqvarna knows about the problem, and
they have a large back order of fuel lines they can't fill. To think I bought a Husqvarna because of value
and quality so I wouldn't have to keep buying cheaper models, fooled me and they will not stand behind
their products.

No More Husqvana's
I should have known better after having a Husky chain saw that leaked chain oil. This blower is the hardest 2 cycle machine I have ever had to start.
I gave it away. I have less expensive yard tools that have been through hell and I have no trouble with any of them starting. Never Again!
Pros: Light Weight, Easy To Store
Cons: Hard To Start

I have had this blower less than 6 months, works fine, with the exception of the fuel lines. 2 of the fuel lines on the carb. have already broken in two. I realize that the ethanol in the fuel is the cause of these problems. but you need to change the fuel lines to something that the ethanol will not deteriorate.

What's The Beef?
I've had this for a couple weeks. It was easy for a mechanical know-nothing to get up and running.

I'm not sure why there are complaints about the noise and the weight. It's no noisier than my electric one, it's more powerful and no heavier.

Two uses so far, each about 45 minutes. No problems.
