Q: my company has a 150 bt unit. I need to know what gas and oil to use and the ratio.
thank you!

by Susie from South Carolina on November 22, 2013

A: Susie,

If possible, find any fuel with little to no Ethanol content. No more than 10%.

You will need to use a high quality 50:1 2-cycle engine oil. Look for any brand that is JASO-FD rated. It is about 2.56 oz of oil per 1 gallon of fuel.

Q: Joe,

Husqvarna 150BT is advertised as "Professional" and the 350 BT is advertised as "Heavy Duty." Can you please make a recommendation? The $ 20 price difference is unimportant to me. I want to purchase the better machine. Thanks.

by Mike from Minnesota on October 27, 2013

A: Mike,

It will be $20 well spent. You are getting a more commercially built unit with the 350BT. The commercial type housing leads to increased durability, and extended longevity over the 150BT.

The housing is also what contributes to the increase in CFM (Air Volume) which is what you are looking for when you are moving leaves.
by Joe, Product Expert
Q: I have been looking at this model and there is a lot of different answers for the actual air velocity. One site says 251mph, this one says 112mph and then another site says 180mph. I am really in need of a blower that can handle over an acre of land that is covered in trees. But this air velocity thing needs to be cleared up!!!!
by Erin Nihoris from Indiana on October 02, 2013

A: Erin,

I think that some of the sites you are going to are using correct specs, but they are giving the air speed of the blower with out any tubing to direct your airflow. Measuring speed without restriction will give you a higher number, but it isn't too helpful.

Here is the airspeed and CFM taken at the end of the tube attachment:

Air Speed (mph) 180
Volume of Air (CFM) 494

Now that I have cleared this up for you, I wish you the best in your fall clearing!

Q: Joe, My question was the same as Question 1. So which is more powerful the 150 BT or the 350BT?
by Joe from Connecticut on September 29, 2013

A: Joe,

The 350BT was built to be used in more of a commercial setting as the 150BT was designed for residential.

You will find there are differences in the housing and durability with the 350BT that push it to be a bit more powerful than the 150BT

Q: Considering Husqvarna 150 bt gas blower
PED says air speed --112mph/434 cfm
Husqvana website states air flow in housing 710 cfm & air speed 251mph
Which is correct?

by Tom from New York on September 17, 2013

A: Tom,

They both are. The difference is how and where the speed and velocity is recorded.

The "in housing" spec that you see in the owners manual is taken when all of the tubing is off of the machine directly at the housing. Why they post this escapes me a bit since all of that velocity and high volume of air mean very little if there is no concentration or direction of that air.

We took the liberty of posting the numbers that matter. We pulled the the speed and velocity with all of the tubing and reducers attached. These are the numbers when the machine is in use.

I Use My Leaf Blower For A Snow Blower
I went to Lowes looking for a walk behind snow blower, they were out. So I bought this back pack leaf blower 150BT to replace my hand held Stilh leaf blower which is awesome itself but I needed something bigger to blow the snow from my 300 yard driveway in which is straight up and down. I live in the Appalachian mountains in southwest Virginia, snows are bad every year, this thing will remove it well.
Pros: Fast, Easy To Use, High Quality, I'd Buy It Again

Great Machine
I purchased one of these online. I have only used it once but I love it. I have about an acre of lawn that is surrounded by oaks, maples and pines.

The best thing is it will take care of the mat of pine needles that drop in the fall. The leaves are no problem. The furthest I have to blow to the tree line is about 50 feet and I can do it with this machine without having to rake because the leaves are too deep.

Assembly was easy with a little silicon spray on the tubes.

Only issue is... more
Pros: I'd Buy It Again, Quiet, Price, Exceeded Expectations
Cons: A Little Awkward To Hold Still While Starting

I Need More Air Scotty !
And I Got it !

I have vacant woods on each side of my 3 acre yard so I wanted the maximum air of a backpack blower to blow leaves into the woods. I am not bagging the leaves so extra air force creates no problems. I choose the 150BT over the 350BT for the extra MPH of air. The extra air is great for gutter cleaning as well. It makes fast work of a previously long day.

Delivery: The unit took more than a week to arrive (East Coast) which was fine for me. However, If you need a blower... more

My Experiences
I purchased my Husqvarna blower last Christmas.
I have to say it starts up easily and it really does a great job blowing the leaves.
It blows the leaves that have been stuck to the ground.
I am very satisfied with it and I would recommend it to my friends.

Worst Customer Service Ever!!!!!!!
I purchased the Husqvarna 150BT 50cc 2-Cycle Backpack Blower and it stopped working with only a few months of use. In fact, it never made it through a 2.5 gallon gas can purchased new to mix in in the 2 cycle engine oil. Forget Husqvarna customer service all they are trained to do is deny claims on their products. This company has very poor integrity. Not only do they manufacture a faulty product, they know it and refuse to reimburse anyone who is willing to call them on their bad behavior. You... more

Excellent Product
I went to store looking for the 350BT model but they only had this model. Since I did not want to wait two weeks for the delivery of the 350BT, I went ahead and bought the 150BT. So far I'm very impressed with the performance of this model. I would recommend it to a friend.

Replaced 350bt With 150bt
I replaced a stolen 350BT with this 150BT. I was worried at first because of the lower cfm on the 150BT but this blower is amazing. I live in the middle of the woods and constantly have to blow leaves in piles waist high. This blower has enough power to make the job easy. I would recommend this blower to anyone.
Pros: Price, Fast, High Quality, I'd Buy It Again
