Q: Hi Joe -- What is the best measure of a leafblower's power? I am trying to understand why the Husqvarana 350BT is considered more powerful than the 150BT because it appears that the 150BT and the 350BT have the same CFM (494) but the 150BT has a higher air speed than the 350BT. I understand that the 350BT is more durable but I cannot understand why it would be considered more powerful than the 150BT. Thanks.
by Quan from Virginia on November 11, 2013

A: Quan,

You, my friend, win the perceptive shopper award today. You chose such a fine example too. On paper, the Husqvarna 150BT and the 350BT appear remarkable similar. All of the specifics matching up across the board. Except for that pesky air speed. You may hear a lot of people talk about how important that air speed is, and they are partially correct. Air speed is a direct measure of engine size and power. But the true measure of a good leaf blower is shown by what will move your debris...Air Volume or CFMs.

In the case of the Husqvarna 150 vs. 350, you will see that the 350BT has a more commercial design allowing a similar size engine to work less to achieve the same air volume. This leads to longer run times with less engine wear.

Q: Hi Joe,
I love the capability to lock the speed and the overall durability of this model. What's available left-handed that is comparable?

by Gabor from Arkansas on November 11, 2013

A: Gabor,

Unfortunately, there are no left-handed tube models made by any manufacturer.

Q: I am looking for a good quality blower that my wife can easily start. Is the Husky that blower? Her favorite gift of all time was a Stihl saw that is incredibly easy to start. I need the same thing for a blower.
by Randy from Georgia on November 09, 2013

A: Randy,

The easiest backpack leaf blower I can recommend is the Dolmar PB-7601.4. 2-cycles always will present more start-up issues than a 4-cycle engine will. Dolmar is an amazing German company who is credited for inventing and patenting the first chainsaw ever. So to say they know a thing or two about small engines is an understatement.

To make life even easier, Dolmar has one of the most durable, and reliable "spring assisted" recoil starts on the market. It has to be felt to be believed. She will be running this with ease whether anyone is around or not.

Q: IF YOU PLEASE REGARDING THE Husqvarna 50 cc 2 cycle leaf blowers WHICH 350 VS 150BT FROM WHAT I SAW ON A BOX THE 150 SAID +/- 240MPH AND 700+ ON CFM.
by WOODY from South Carolina on November 01, 2013

A: Woody,

I believe the reading of around 700 CFM for the 350BT is a reading taken inside of the blower's housing with all of the tubing removed. That reading is rarely helpful to anyone since you are not using a blower minus all of the air direction.

Our listing of 494 CFM for the 350BT is the air volume out of the nozzle.
by Dale, Product Expert
Q: ON the Husqvarna 350BT model Is the handle controls able to lock in at full throttle of half throttle so that you dont have to hold down the trigger the entire time while using the blower? This would be more comfort and easier if I can get to desire speed and lock in the speed and then just blow leaves?? My old Echo had this and is helpful for leaves and long uses!

Thanks
Mark

by Mark W. from Virginia on October 24, 2013

A: Mark,

You are in luck my friend. You are able to adjust the idle speed and it sets where ever you leave it.

This feature is on the tube mounted unit (350BT) and the frame mounted unit (350BF).

Q: Looking at the Husqvarna 50 cc 2 cycle leaf blower at $ 319.99. Anything better out there for the same price?
by Jim Kostinas from New Jersey on October 20, 2013

A: Jim,

I just looked at everything we have at that price range, and the 350BT shows up at the most powerful, and the most durable. I have personally used this machine and have recommended it to several friends and family members, and have yet to hear even a single complaint about this unit.
by Dale, Product Expert
Q: what is the difference between the 150bt and the 350bt blowers?
by Phil from New York on October 18, 2013

A: Phil,

The 150BT and the 350BT from Husqvarna may appear similar on paper in their descriptions, but please do not let that fool you. The 150BT was designed primarily for residential use, where the 350BT was built more with a commercial application in mind.

The 350BT has more reinforcements around the engine and more durable motor housing. The difference in housing is what also creates more CFMs, and this volume of air will clean up leaves more efficiently.
by Dale, Product Expert
Q: The video does' not show the mixing with the gas and the oil. Could you explain a little bit about it?
by Frank from Georgia on October 06, 2013

A: Frank,

The process is fairly simple. First find a gas can that you will allocate for mixed fuel only. Then put one gallon of the highest quality fuel you can find. You are looking for the lowest ethanol you can buy, E10 being the highest you can use. Do not use anything higher that 10% ethanol, it will damage your engine. For every one gallon of fuel you use, use a very high quality 2-cycle engine oil (JASO rated). Put 2.56 oz. of oil mixed with each gallon you intend to use.

Please do not use gas older than 2 weeks and find the highest quality engine oil you can.

Mix them together in the can and give a light swish mixing the contents together. Add this mixture when you need to fuel your blower.

Q: Does this model just blow or does it have the vacuum feature as well?
by Pam Dillon from Kansas on October 05, 2012

A: Pam - none of the backpack blowers have a vacuum option. They would all be strictly blowers. If you are looking for something with a vacuum option, you would need to look at a hand held model instead of a backpack model.
by Dale, Product Expert
Q: Do you know if any gutter kits will fit the Husqvarna 150BT blower?
by Chris Barnes on June 15, 2011

A: Chris - Husqvarna only offers a gutter cleaning kit for their hand held blowers. None of the back pack blowers have a gutter kit option.
by Dale, Product Expert
Q: do you know if they make a left handed Husqvarna 50cc Backpack Blower
by Frank from Massachusetts on May 28, 2011

A: Frank - sorry, but this model is only available in a right handed set up

The Husqvarna 350BT back pack leaf blower is designed with the large landowner in mind but still is a great option for anyone looking to pick up efficiency from a handheld blower.

This lightweight 50cc mid-size leaf blower features a powerful X-TORQ engine for increased power, better fuel economy and reduced emissions. The harness and controls are ergonomically designed for high capacity and ease of use. Throttle controls are mounted on the tube.

Awesome Unit!
After spending over $130 every couple of years on cheap blowers that were hard to start and didn't really do the job well, this one was worth every penny. Save yourself the headache of no starts or pulling the cord 80 times to get it going. One quarter pull and this thing is alive! It's a little tricky to hold it store while starting because the pull rope start is stiff but once you get used to steadying the unit it's stable.
Pros: Easy To Use, High Quality, Exceeded Expectations, Price

No Customer Service From Husqvarna...beware
My previous 5* review must be amended because a major problem with the unit, "service" center and Husqvarna has me dismayed with quality control and customer service. After 10-12 hours of use the unit stalled whenever I tried to accelerate it making it useless. I took it to an authorized Husqvarna service center instead of my regular service place (I have a lot of power equipment). Big mistake! It was misdiagnosed as a fuel related problem and if you read my previous review you should... more
Pros: When working it is OK.
Cons: Expensive, Low Quality, Unreliable, Poor customer service

Solid Product
It starts very easily. I have a ton of leaves and it got them blowed back, but it may be undersized for my leaves. The only real complaint I have is the straps, I’m a bigger man and they’re a little small for me.
Pros: Easy To Use, High Quality, Price, Light Weight
Cons: Undersized for heavy amounts of leaves, Not enough adjustment in straps

Terrific Blower!
I received this as a gift and it's all I will need to deal with leaf or snow-covered decks, walks, and lawns. Much quieter than other brands and lighter, too. Excellent performer.

Met My Needs
I live on a large property with a 1/4 mile driveway. I need some power to blow off leaves and debris from storms and this is just the ticket. Started right up our of the box and has continued to be easy to start. Weight to power is also very good. I would certainly recommend this product.

Excellent Backpack Blower
This blower was recommended by a great landscaping company crew chief (it was one of 3 units). I keep a meticulous 3/4 acre property and my excellent hand held blower was bothering my arm with excessive use. Thus, this was his recommended solution. The "Husky" has fantastic ergonomic features and just amazes me with the great blowing efficiency/power it has. Plus I can go almost 2 hours at full throttle on one tank of gas!

The aforementioned foreman also stressed to use 91 octane... more

Great Blower Except...
Pros - Very powerful

Cons - Hard pull starter.
Shut down button in a bad place. It should be somewhere else than on the throttle lever. Working with the throttle locked open and then unlocking it is too easy to push it to shut down accidentally. This gets annoying after a few times of having to take it off my back to restart.
Pros: Easy To Use, Reliable, Fast, Easy To Store
Cons: Difficult To Use, Hard pull starter.

Nice Product
Product was simple to assemble. I placed a little lubricant on the mating plastic parts and they went together without issue. Put fuel in the tank, primed the carburetor and gave it a pull. Started on the 2nd pull and has started with no more than 2 pulls since. Runs very quietly and has good power. Very satisfied.
