Product QuestionsAnswered by Dale, the Leaf Blower Expert
Joe,
Is one able to disengage the sweeper on this model?
If so, is it done by the pull of a string or does one have to get off the lawn tractor to do so?
Since I have to transport the leaves a long distance to a burn pile it would be nice to save on the brush and other mechanical components.
Thanks,
Ryan

Answer
Ryan,
There is no way to disengage the brusher blades, but it would be to your advantage to just set the brush height to it's highest setting for transport.

I have just had my lawn reseeded and fertilized. Will the lawn sweeper pick up my seeds? Thank you.

Answer
Jem,
You really should not have too much issue if you were able to give the seed and fertilizer time to settle in.
Of course, if there is any at your brush level, it will pick up anything in its path.

Looking for residential rural lawn sweeper. Rural, so not 'level' like a 'lawn' but still our lawn. Any recommendations on this model, or any others? Thank you

Answer
Dave and Kathy,
Sweepers are designed to be durable, long lasting, and simple. Think broom bristles on the wheel of an axle. That means these sweepers will work great in many conditions, and not so great in others. If your lawn is very uneven in several areas, you will see patches where the broom has missed or skipped.
If there are a unlevel areas you may be fine, but a very hilly lawn may cause quite the issue.

Answer
Wayne,
The shipping dimensions for the 50SWP26 are:
57.5"L x 17.5"W x 12.5"H and the unit weighs in at 117.5 lbs.
The 50SWP26 unit will be shipping freight. If you cannot remove the item from bed of a semi-truck, tractor trailer, you would need to pay $50 to secure a hydraulic platform (lift-gate) to lower it down from the ground.
The 42" sweeper would ship Fed-ex so you would not have to be concerned with this.

I have worn out three cub cadet sweepers. Each only last me about 2 yrs.
Is the Ohio Steel Sweeper that much better than the MTD or AgriFab?
What makes it better?

Answer
D,
I first would have to ask you what you are using these sweepers for, or should I say in what application.
Construct-wise the units are similar. The Ohio Steel may be a bit more durable in many of its components like in the gears and the bushings, but I have never heard of anyone going through 3 sweepers in 6 years.
I would first have to ask you if your brush height is set appropriately.

Are the gears plastic
Tim
from Kentucky
September 17, 2013
Answer
Tim,
The gears on the 50SWP26 are metal connected to high wear polymer bushings.
You will not have to worry one bit about any premature wear of the polymer as long as you make sure your brush height is not too low. Your brushes should flow and roll smoothly. If they stutter or skip, they are too low.
If you have any further questions, always feel free to contact me.
I'm always happy to help!

Can you dump the hopper from the seat or do you have to get off and do it manually thanks
John

Answer
John,
This sweeper is shipped with a sturdy pull rope that you attach to an eyelet that allows you to dump from the tractor/ATV seat. In fact, all of the Ohio Sweepers do.
