Ryobi Ry08420 Back Pack Blower Review
Back pack blowers are normally for the pro. You see them in use by professional landscape pros all the time. So why not have one designed just for the home owner? Well Ryobi has done just that with the RY08420 back pack blower. Just from looking at the unit you can tell this is no ordinary back pack blower. The air tube is sideways which gives the air more of a direct path resulting in more velocity. It puts out 185 mph and 510 CFM from its powerful 42 cc engine.

The RY08420 is also... more

Waste Of Money
Don't waste your money. Spend the extra for an echo product. This blower stops working after 10 min despite using the brand recommend mix and new gas. Cheaply made product.
Cons: Unreliable, Durability, Low Quality

This Product Is Junk
This product is junk. I bought this product just over a year ago, and have only used it a few times. While using it, this fall it started leaking gas from the carburetor. I took it back to Home Depot and waited two weeks for repair service. When I finally got it back I used it for 2 minutes and it started leaking again. I went back to Home Depot and asked for my money back. Home Depot has a 30-day money back policy. They said I had to contact Ryobi. I called Ryobi and they will not return... more

Worst Thing I Have Ever Bought
No stars from me. I read other reviews and should have listened. Figured I could save a little money on simple yard work machines. Most of the time it would not start and when it did it would not stay running, despite following the directions to a "T".

Never again will I waste money on a Ryobi. Don't bother taking it back to Home Depot either. They will not take back the item despite having tried to use it only three times.
Pros: NO PROS
Cons: Unreliable, Low Quality, does not run

Good Inexpensive Leaf Blower, Not Durable
The pull cord breaks to often, easy to repair. The engine comes loose, breaks the coil, damages the flywheel and the engine mount breaks. Good for about 1 to 2 years of use for a person that really uses the blower. Would reccomend a warranty plan
Pros: Price, Light Weight, Features
Cons: Unreliable, Durability, Difficult To Use

Spend The Extra Money And Buy A Real Backpack Blower !!
I bought this on ebay for not very much . the add said it was non working and parts were missing. when it arrived I inspected it all over and proceeded to diagnose the trouble with it. I did a compression test and found it to be low a no start. I continued my disassembly to ascertain if the piston or the bore were scored. on removing the piston I noticed much carbon on the piston and in the bore. I thought that was strange for such a new machine.

I then did some checking and found many... more

Great, Affordable Blower!
This definitely does the job for doing lawns part time. It is semi-easy to start and always does the job. Just a couple of pointers. The blower is not very efficient because of the power so be prepared to spend a little more on gas. Also, always use ear protection on this as the engine is very close to your ears and very very loud.
Pros: Easy To Use, Price, Reliable, High Quality
Cons: Heavy

Nice Blower, But...
... but nearly unserviceable. For example, despite instructions to occasionally inspect the air filter, there are no instructions on how to actually get to it. I should not have to completely disassemble it to do that, and you pretty much have to do that to get the housing off.
Pros: Price
Cons: Bad Instructions, Maintainability

Quality
Within a year of purchasing I had to send it to the shop to have the carburetor cleaned and the switch on the handle fixed. Then the coil went out and I've been waiting for two months on a back ordered coil! The summer is almost gone and I've still got Pine straw and cones to blow. Will I have it back in time to blow leaves? WHO KNOWS!
Pros: Price, Easy To Use, Light Weight
Cons: Low Quality, Unreliable

420 Backpack Blower
Last summer I bought a Ryobi backpack blower. ...powerful and easy to operate...just drop it off at the shop after 30 minutes use ..and suddenly it started studdering...called the 800 # told them the situation..the primer wasn't priming the gas...

took it to home depot where I always take my Ryobi tools to get repaired...only one thing though... It seems as though the product may last or work up to maybe a year or two... then I have to get them repaired.

Maybe it's just my luck....don't... more

Can't keep it running. 2 years old and replaced the OEM carburetor twice. My small engine shop refused to fix it and says I am throwing my money away.
